Save your work as an editable .rempress project, use Save As for a new version, and reopen it in RemPress Studio when you want to continue editing. With the installed Windows file association, double-clicking a .rempress file opens it in RemPress. Keep a separate backup of important work. Why the project file matters A printed page or exported image is not the same thing as an editable project. The project file preserves the document in a form RemPress can reopen and continue editing. Save early rather than waiting until the design is finished. This reduces the amount of work you can lose if Windows, the printer driver or another application encounters a problem. 1. Save a new project Choose Save Use the File area or Quick Save option available in RemPress. Pick a folder Choose a location you will remember, such as a dedicated RemPress Projects folder. Use a descriptive name Name the document for its real purpose, customer or version. Confirm the save After saving, continue working and save again as the design changes. Names such as 'Wedding-Invite-A5-v2' or 'Cafe-Menu-Summer-2026' are much easier to manage than 'New Document'. 2. Save during editing Save after meaningful changes, especially before importing content, performing a complex crop, changing the page setup or beginning a large print run. Undo is useful during the current editing session, but it should not be treated as a replacement for saving. 3. Keep versions when the design branches Use Save As to create a separate .rempress project when changing a design for a new event, customer or print size. Choose a new filename so the original version remains available. A simple version suffix such as v1, v2 or FINAL-APPROVED can help, although dates are often even clearer. The Windows installer associates .rempress files with RemPress, so you can also double-click a project in File Explorer to open it in the installed application. After opening, check the page setup and the most important text and images before making new edits. Saving work recovered from Publisher Import and recover supported content from the .pub file, check the page size, fonts, images and layout, then save a native .rempress project. Reopen that project for later edits so you do not have to import the original Publisher file each time. Keep the original .pub file and any reference PDF separately. Saving the recovered project does not guarantee that every Publisher-specific effect or object was retained. 5. If something looks different after reopening A saved project should preserve the document settings it supports. However, a document can still look different if it relies on fonts, printer drivers or external resources that are different on another computer. If a font is missing, Windows may substitute another font, which can change line wrapping and text-box size. Confirm the same fonts are installed. Check that the project opened on the expected page size. Check linked or imported images if any appear missing. If printing differs, compare the printer and driver rather than changing the document immediately. 6. Back up important projects Keep at least one backup of important commercial or customer work outside the folder containing the active working copy. This could be another drive or a reputable cloud-storage service that you control. RemPress project saving protects the document state; it does not replace a full computer backup. Do not keep the only copy of an important project on a single laptop or removable USB drive.
